Grupo Niche
Grupo Niche is a Colombian salsa group that grew to enjoy great popularity throughout Latin America.
Orígenes
Founded in 1978 in Bogotá by Jairo Varela and Alexis Lozano, the group was led for life by Varela, who served as producer, director, songwriter, vocalist and guiro player. Lozano, a trombonist and arranger, later left to form Orquesta Guayacán.
El sonido
Their sound is classic Colombian salsa, built on tight arrangements and strong vocals, with a lineup that featured piano, bass, congas and multiple singers.
Legado
Anchored by Varela's songwriting and direction, Grupo Niche became one of the most popular salsa acts across Latin America.
