Los Tigres del Norte
Los Tigres del Norte are one of the most recognized and prominent acts in regional Mexican music, an American norteña band whose decades-long career and storytelling have made them genre icons. With some 32 million albums sold, their reach is enormous.
Orígenes
The group was originally founded in the small town of Rosa Morada in Sinaloa, Mexico, and is now based in San Jose, California. They have been active since 1968, building a following on both sides of the border.
El sonido
Their norteño sound is built around corridos, and they are known especially for political and romantic ballads, some of which have faced censorship for their pointed social commentary.
Legado
Their accolades are remarkable: the only Mexican group to win seven Grammy Awards along with thirteen Latin Grammys. Beyond music, they appeared in some 40 films alongside the Almada brothers and other well-known Mexican actors.
