Orígenes
Born Sebastiao Rodrigues Maia, he emerged on the Brazilian scene from 1968, introducing soul music to the country and reshaping its sound.

He moved freely across soul, funk, disco, rock and roll, rhythm and blues, romantic ballads, samba, bossa nova, baiao and MPB. Alongside Jorge Ben, he pioneered samba rock and samba funk, fusing samba with soul, funk and rock and roll.
